Something about a line...
I started my creative practice today by drawing a line.
A bad one.
I cringed looking at it.
It took all I had to stop from screwing it up and throwing it wildly to the wind.
My inner critic was quick to unsheathe his sword.

Valentines Day: A Love Story
It was a beautiful sunny day, February 14, in the mid 90s…
And there was this girl I was sweet on…
I was 20 years old.
By my own reckoning, that made it my first Valentines day as a man.
A day that would provide me with a golden opportunity to banish my boyish charms for good…

Miracles happen on bad days...
It was the moment that I'd always secretly dreaded… the chance opportunity to save someones life…
It was a little before dusk and I was walking home from my local supermarket with an arm full of groceries.
As I walked along, I saw an old man moving in an unusual fashion on the other side of the street. I couldn't tell if he was crazy drunk or just bravely dealing with a mobility issue...
Add a commentA Conversation with the Creativity Gods…
I wrote a blog post last June and for some reason I decided not to publish it.
I stumbled across it again this morning on my hard drive...
I re-read it and thought that maybe I should have shared it after all...
So here it is...

Our worlds collided in the piazza of a little medieval Italian hilltop village.
Dressed in a black woolen skirt and matching knitted cardigan, she made her way across the square in my direction.
Her skin was golden, wrinkly and furry, just like a peach that harvest had forgotten to pick...
Add a commentReturn of the Buddha...
It was a heart-breaking act, but somehow I knew it was for the best.
I took a deep breath, and handed over my Golden Buddha to my dear friends Davide and Esther.
Katrina and I had purchased one-way tickets into the unknown and our Virgin Atlantic flight was just days away from departing...

Life can be challenging for the creative soul...
Particularly in times when you feel as if life is pushing you to accept the status quo.
But hear this…
Being just like everyone else is not what you are designed for...

‘What would Mickey Rourke do?’ I thought to myself.
In hindsight, probably not the greatest question to ask, but it was the best my infatuated 14 year-old mind could come up with.
Her name was Samantha (not her real name) and she was a little bundle of sweetness.
Add a commentMoney Myths and the Stuff of Legends...
Money (and more importantly how it links to our perception of survival), is one of the core human concerns of our modern world.
Now this area of concern, for most people takes on a whole new level of meaning when they step into the unknown in a quest to find more meaningful and fulfilling work.
And the Monk Tended to his Perfect Garden…
Last night I had a dream about a monk tending to his perfect garden.
The garden was exquisite in its design and immaculate in every way. The white roses were in full bloom, the hedges impeccably groomed and the lilies covered the pond with an idyllic splendour...

London can be a lonely place… I should know, I spent 10 years living in the city and still felt as if I was a stranger just passing through.
Nowhere on the planet does the invisible veil of human separation seem so thick than in her streets...
Add a commentThe Sleep Monsters that Live Down Below...
When I was a small child I had an irrational fear of sleep monsters.
My first conscious recollection of experiencing this fear was when my parents bought my brother and I a new bunk bed...

It could be pretty easy to cast an eye over this earth realm and see a total disaster zone.
Endless wars, government corruption, bank bailouts, job cuts, austerity measures and environmental destruction, all paint a picture of a world, if not completely mad, then certainly one that is more than a little unhinged.
